Sinthusha Awarded the Inaugural Iris Unger Award

Thursday October 17, 2019

The Iris Unger Recognition Award recognizes artists and entrepreneurs whose project best reflects the values that Iris Unger, YES’ former Executive Director, instilled during her 18 years at YES: dedication and passion, success through hard work, and a true commitment to making a difference in the community.

The winner of the inaugural Iris Unger Recognition Award was presented to Sinthusha Kandiah, whose non-profit organization demonstrated exceptional growth and impact in local and global communities. Some of Divinart’s impact have been contributing to Chez Doris Women’s Shelter in helping Aboriginal women who were newly housed, helping marginalized women who experience conjugal violence, and globally, donating educational technological tools to help visually impaired individuals affected by the civic war in Sri Lanka, and supporting a micro-financing
project to empower women living in the slums of Hyderabad, India.
